Another harvest has come and gone. As with each and every harvest you tell yourself, “I promise, next year it will be easier on us.” Well, this year was no exception and certainly had its challenges! The capricious weather—between rain and frost—played a bit with our nerves. Oh, that’s not to mention the forest fires… That being said, it was ultimately a fairly smooth harvest and we anticipate great results.
The 2009 vintage propagated solid teamwork—the efforts in the Rancho Arroyo Grande vineyards allowed us to begin crafting outstanding wines, which are just at the beginning of their life. Denise Georgi, our Director of Grower Relations, introduced us to exciting and unique vineyards from throughout California; looking for the maritime climates we desired (for our Deep Sea wines), she brought in some wonderful fruit. We can’t wait until the day when we release the 2009 vintage, but we’ll have to be patient!
